DATE: 06/04/2020 This is the README file for data presented and compiled in the paper: Janalizadeh, R., and V. P. Pasko, A framework for efficient calculation of photoionization and photodetachment rates with application to the lower ionosphere, J. Geophys. Res., 125, e2020JA027979, 2020. doi:10.1029/2020JA027979 -The directory "Data" contains 2 subdirectories: (1) Functions and (2) Plots -The directory "Functions" includes the functions created by the authors for calculations presented in the paper. -The directory "Plots" has .m files with the number of figure they represent in the paper, e.g., fig4.m. These .m files use the functions and data addressed in the manuscript with detail for generation of plots. The functions and data are also included in this folder for correct running of these .m files. The .txt and .dat files include the normalized photon energy distribution function of each band system as a function of wavelength compiled from literature addressed in the paper. -Please refer to the description inside of each function for instructions on their application and usage. -The code for each figure has been run on MATLAB R2019b without any errors. However, it is known that some earlier versions of MATLAB throw errors during run. -Please contact the authors Reza Janalizadeh (reza.j@psu.edu) and/or Victor Pasko (vpasko@psu.edu) for any comments or questions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DATE: 04/18/2022 -The function O2yield.m which calculates the photoionization probability of O2 as a function of photon wavelength has been added to the functions. -A small issue with the function bolsigair.m in case which neutral atmospheric density is input (as opposed to atmospheric altitude) has been resolved so that density is interpreted in units of m^-3.
